Meditation

Many people talk about meditation. It could help improve health by reducing stress, calming your senses and cooling down your daily fast-paced life. A lot has been discussed but what is meditation and how to start?

Simply defined, (we don't need a dictionary to do this) it is an art of focusing your mind.

What: The Exercise of the Mind

While we need real physical strength and fast movement to exercise our muscles, our mind is exxercised the opposite way. It is by NOT doing anything, focusing on just one thing. You can focus on a candle but the simplest one is to focus on breathing because everyone has that. Meditation is an art of concentrating your mind on ONE very focused item for a stipulated time frame.

75% of the people who have never meditated told SkyRocketMySuccess.com that meditation is so simple and can be easily done - if that is what it is - sit down and do nothing, but focusing on one item. However, when asked to really sit and focus on the breathing, most of the interviewees got their mind wandering out of focus within 1 minute. Less than 10% can meditate for a 10-minute session without the mind wandering to other topics. However, as difficult as it may sound, 90% of the participants actually felt great and like the feeling of calmness.

How: Calming the "monkey" mind

As we live in the world of fast-pace and everything moves as fast as the speed of thought, stress remain the number one silent killer of all diseases. Just as introduced, mediating is to simply focus on one object.

PDAs are so called PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) for a reason. Yes, they are your Personal Assistant (PA). So, with such technologies, who else needs a PA? If you are a PA and tired of managing your boss(es)' calendar(s), welcome to this blog piece which you will cheer later.

If you are still asking your PA, "What is my schedule like today?" or if your wife asks for a romantic dinner on Saturday and you say, "I need to check with my PA on my schedule", then it is just time for you to see this! The video below explains well.

I am not suggesting you fire your PA straight away but if both of you can do this more efficiently then a PA can do much more important things for you. In fact, a calendar or schedule should be automated.

First thing first I suggest you should have a Google Calendar - something to start with - a Google account! Simple, free and easy to use - Google calendar is an online calendar just like you would manage your calendar using Outlook. You can set appointments as private so those do not show. Google Calendar is ONLINE, realtime meaning to say you do not need to check with your PA or vice versa - no more synchronisation to do.

If you are not using Google Docs and you have to collaborate with multiple parties just to get one document updated, chances are you will be having headaches to manage versions of documents. So what is Google Docs and why use Google Docs?

Say for example, Max writes a document and name it Report 2010.doc and then email to Susie, Charlie and Sam. Sam reads it, finds an error and corrrect it, renames it to Report 2010-2.doc. But at the same time Charlie updated some details and renamed the file Report May 2010.doc. Now when all these versions come back to Max, he is getting too confused. Susie asks for an updated report and Max sends out Report May 2010.doc, not knowing Sam has another version. Sounds familiar? Welcome on board to the solution - an ONLINE, real time tool for documents. Not just documents - it is also for presentations, spreadsheets and now even drawings!
